Behind every new song is a story that audiences do not always get to hear. For South African vocalist Kwanda Mahlombe, the journey of building a career in music has been about far more than having a good voice. It has required patience, consistency, and the willingness to keep showing up, even when opportunities do not come as quickly as expected.

Now, with his latest single “Ungayeki” already available across digital streaming platforms, Kwanda is opening up about the less glamorous side of pursuing a career in music: the uncertainty, the waiting, the self-doubt, and the constant pressure to prove yourself. The title of the song, which means “Don’t Give Up,” reflects an experience that has become increasingly familiar throughout his journey.

“People often see the performances, the music, and the moments when things are going well, but they don’t always see everything that happens behind the scenes. There are times when you question yourself and wonder if you are really going to make it. For me, the answer has always been to keep going.” says Kwanda Mahlombe.

Born and raised in Komani in the Eastern Cape, Kwanda grew up surrounded by music. His early relationship with the keyboard eventually developed into a passion for singing, with his voice becoming the foundation of his artistic identity. As he continues to establish himself in the industry, Kwanda is learning that talent is only one part of building a sustainable music career.

As he continues to navigate the realities of the South African music industry, Kwanda Mahlombe is choosing to remain focused on the long game. Because sometimes, the biggest difference between giving up and making it is simply deciding to keep going.

“Ungayeki” is available now on all major digital streaming platforms.
