Eskort Braailux

Eskort, Checkers and Toyota unite to give away a Braai-Lux, with Springbok icon Bongi
Mbonambi as the face of the campaign.

Eskort has partnered with Checkers and Toyota to launch their latest Braai-Lux
campaign, which celebrates South African braai culture.

Eskort knows that the best way to bring people together is through good food, and in
true South African style, over a braai. This belief is what kickstarted the campaign and is
rooted in one simple truth: South Africans love to braai, so much so that they will braai
anywhere. In the backyard, at the campsite, at the rugby, you name it. Because nothing
brings South Africans together quite like a legendary braai. And now, Eskort has taken

braai culture to another level, building one of the most uniquely South African prizes
ever created.
Introducing the BRAAI-LUX — a fully customised New Generation Toyota Hilux 2.8 GD-
6 4×4 Raider 6AT Double Cab, proudly sponsored by Toyota and fully kitted out by
Eskort with everything you need for the ultimate braai, including a fridge, a gas braai
and all the essential tools to get the fire going, wherever you are.
But this isn’t just a showpiece.
Eskort is giving the Braai-Lux away to one lucky customer who purchases any Eskort
product from Checkers or Checkers Sixty60. And because no legendary braai is
complete without legendary company, the winner will also get to fire up the Braai-Lux
and enjoy a braai alongside, two-time Rugby World Cup winner, Bongi Mbonambi.
“This mix of three iconic brands, braai'ing and Bongi is the ultimate South African
combination, and we’re excited about the conversations and cultural connections that
are springing from the campaign,” says Eskort CEO Arnold Prinsloo.

What exactly is the Braai-Lux?
The Braai-Lux is a ninth-generation 206 New Generation Toyota Hilux 2.8 GD-6 4×4
Raider 6AT Double Cab, proudly sponsored by Toyota, with a full customisation built by
Ironman 4×4 and Halfway Toyota Honeydew.
The conversion features a Megamaster grill, dual fridge/freezer, a roller drawer system,
a Dometic roof rack, a Bossenberg Canopy, a 270 ° awning, full front bull bar, a light kit,
a suspension kit, offroad tyres sponsored by Tyremart, and custom embroidered Takla
seat covers, dash cover and carpets.

Who are the three legends behind the campaign?
Three South African institutions, each a leader in its field, have come together to make
this campaign possible.
For Eskort, the campaign is a natural extension of a brand that has been part of South
African mealtimes for more than a century.
For 109 years, Eskort has grown from small-town roots into one of South Africa’s
leading pork producers, with a national manufacturing, retail and distribution footprint.

Today, Eskort is South Africa’s leading antibiotic-free pork producer, with more than 300
products spanning fresh pork, braai cuts, everyday favourites, convenience meals and a
kid’s range.
Braaiing is a particularly important part of that heritage. Eskort products have long been
part of meals and occasions that bring South Africans together – making the Braai-Lux
an opportunity for the brand to celebrate the culture it has been part of for generations.
“Eskort has been part of South African braais for generations, so this campaign gives us
the opportunity to put our brand right at the centre of one of the country's most loved
tradition,” says Prinsloo.
“As a strong retail partner, Checkers gives us incredible reach; Toyota brings an iconic
South African vehicle to the idea, and Bongi brings an authenticity and personality that
makes the experience even more special. Together, we have created something that
feels unmistakably Eskort and unmistakably South African.”
Checkers is South Africa’s fastest growing premium retailer. Its Xtra Savings rewards
programme has been named the Best Retail Loyalty Programme of the Year for the fifth-
year running.
Checkers Sixty60, the award-winning on-demand delivery service that delivers
groceries in 60-minutes at in-store prices, changed the face of South African shopping.
The Toyota Hilux is South Africa’s best-selling vehicle and one of South Africa’s most
enduring cultural symbols. The ninth-generation model, launched in South Africa in
June 2026 continues this legacy.
“Eskort, Checkers and Toyota each represent something the country has trusted and
loved for generations,” says Prinsloo. “By bringing them together around the braai,
Eskort has forged a partnership that makes perfect sense.”

Why Bongi Mbonambi?
Two-time Rugby World Cup-winning Springbok hooker Bongi Mbonambi is one of the
most respected figures in South African sport. He brings to the campaign what he brings
to every team he plays in: authenticity, warmth and natural credibility.
“Bongi is the kind of person South Africans would genuinely invite to their braai,” says
Prinsloo. “He represents the values that sit at the heart of every great braai: bringing
people together, celebrating community, and creating moments that last.
“Having him as the face of this campaign is a privilege, and we know he is going to
make one very lucky South African’s braai utterly unforgettable.”
