March 21 is Human Rights Day in Mzansi, so many celebrated a day in many different ways,.

Kwinki Motshegoa was among those numbers, however he was actually celebrating his 66 birthday with members of a newly formed Umhlaba Wethu Senior Citizen Club at his home in Tloonane village.

Afrika as some will call him,was just as happy as everyone on the day and was happy that though at first it was just him alone planning the event few days later his friends came over to help him with new ideas.

Speaking to Stokveltalk he said,: “In the past during the white government black people were not allowed to get cash from government of the day, today things have change for better for us as blacks hence we have to celebrate these achievement.

And we have also decided as friends to celebrate our birthdays together as a club unlike dong it alone, we all know what was like under apartheid, therefore we have a reason to celebrate our rights or freedom of our land though it is still  their hands, but we are somehow free to do some other things having a gathering like this one without any disturbance .

So today each one had to contribute something in a form of cash, but again we have also decided to contribute some cash towards buying grocery collectively starting from next Month,” said Kwinki

Michael Seanego also know as Might said,: “ I like the idea of us celebrating our birthdays together, that on its own will help us remind ourselves where we coming from as friends and help us plan the future together.

We all have challenges as pensioners , me I am blind, some cant walk properly therefore working as a group will help each other, some pensioners still struggle to enjoy their cash as some end up in the hands of  mashonisa(loan shacks ) or get stolen at home, we are fortunate we can still enjoy our pension payout.”
