The quest for South Africa’s ‘Star Mom’ is on, with leading maize meal brand White Star calling on all families to nominate their moms and motivate why she is the perfect candidate to compete for the number one spot in the ‘Star Mom Search’ Competition.
During the month of May, Mother’s month, White Star launched a search for a mom who can cook, who is versatile, and who can turn a traditional pap dish into a gourmet meal or even a decadent dessert.

Moms selected to partake in the competition will show off their cooking skills at selected malls throughout South Africa. Four moms will be chosen in each region to participate in the semi-finals and the winning semi-finalists will meet in the finals, where they will compete for the number one spot and the prestigious title of ‘Star Mom’.
On the 18th July the semi-finals were in South Gate Mall in Johannesburg from 10h00 until 14h00 where Eunice Sebabu from Chiawelo in Soweto won the Gauteng semi-finals.
The prize is definitely one worth competing for; a family holiday for four comes with not only the title, but an all-expenses paid cruise from Durban to Mozambique in December 2015.
Actress, singer and self-made cooking expert Lucia Mthiyane and recent winner of Outstanding Supporting Actress Award, Mapaseka Koetle, have been selected to judge the competition which will see the dynamic duo travelling all over the country visiting selected malls in search for the ‘Star Mom’. ,
“This competition highlights the fact that White Star honours all hard-working mother’s in our country and more so the winning ‘Star Mom’ will be crowned in August, fittingly during Women’s Month.
