C’nky star keeps rising

C’nky Siwela is a classically trained, multi genre, composer and singer. He is also a talented flutist who’s formal music instruction started with the recorder in 2002, then piano before finally settling for flute as his instrument of choice. With two CDs behind his name and a number of appearances in South Africa and United States, singer / flutist C’nky Siwela is fast establishing himself as an emerging force in the popular my music scene.
Inspired by the sounds of Herbet Laws, Valerie King and Herbie Man who’s music lured him to jazz in the year 2010, C’nky joined CAFCA Big Band as a jazz flutist and was part of their performance at the South African State Theatre in Tshwane in 2011. He also accompanied CAFCA to participate at the Jazz Education Networ (JEN) in New Orleans, USA. C’nky Siwela who is also a talented singer has been booked to perform numerous calendar events and festivals which include the Standard Bank Joy of Jazz , Nelson Mandela Birthday celebration concert, 2008 and 2012, Moshito Music Conference and Exhibition , South African Jazz Education (SAJE) IN Cape Town, Jazz by the river and many more.

His new afro fusion Album titled Reminiscent of the Sounds has been released digitally on iTunes, Rhapsody, Baby CD and other digital platforms and it has been receiving positive feedback with airplay from local and international radio stations. C’nky Siwela has also released a dance song titled “Ngwanyana o” which is also enjoying airplay on major SABC radiostations. He has worked with internationally renowned South African Saxophonist Mc Coy Morubata, hip hop artist Hip Hop Pantsula and many other local musicians. C’nky ‘s flute playing has a unique melodic yet energetic sound that is influenced by his classical training, Jazz , Soul ,Afro fusion and Traditional African folk music.
