The Education Support Forum (TEDSF) is proud to announce the launch of its latest initiative
aimed at empowering South African youth in the renewable energy sector. The Green Energy
& Technology Workforce Development program seeks to address youth unemployment and
promote sustainable employment by providing essential skills training to unemployed
individuals aged 18-35 from underprivileged communities.
With a main goal of skill development in renewable energy, the program will focus on
enhancing employability and fostering entrepreneurship. Through a blend of theoretical and
practical training tailored to industry needs, TEDSF aims to equip 1,036 youths with the
competencies required for success in this vital sector.
Key components of the initiative include:
 Training & Skills Development: A curriculum designed to meet the practical and
theoretical needs of the renewable energy industry.
 Placement Opportunities: Internships and job placements with industry partners to
boost employability.
 Entrepreneurial Support: Assistance for participants in establishing startups within the
renewable energy landscape.
 Holistic Approach: Mentorship and support networks to help overcome psycho-social
barriers.
 The anticipated outcomes include a placement ratio exceeding 60% within project
partners and the broader industry, contributing to a significant reduction in youth
unemployment and the creation of a new generation of green entrepreneurs.
Building on past successes, including a collaboration with Google South Africa that resulted
in job placements for 15 youths, TEDSF remains committed to driving positive change in
communities through practical skills development and sustainable employment.
