Fans of Suzuki looking for something suited to city living will be pleased to know that Ciaz sedan has hit South Africa.
Coming in at 4490mm in length and 1736mm in width, the Suzuki Ciaz is a much larger sedan than most of its local competitors. This size advantage continue in its 15-inch steel or 16-inch alloy wheels, the latter which comes with 15-inch rims accompanying by 185/65 R15 tyres, while the alloy wheels on the latter come with 195/55 R16 tyres. The boot also boosts a respectable 495 litres, and five adults can fit comfortably in the car’s interior.
Spacious and comfortable
A commitment to addition space continues on the inside, with the Ciaz offering special nooks and crannies for storage of commonly used items. Both the rear and front doors have bottle holders, sunglasses can be stored in an overhead console, and a there is a covered compartment at the bottom of the centre stack, which also boasts a 12V power socket, USB and analogue auxiliary inputs.
Performance
When it comes to power, the Ciaz offers a perfectly respectable 1.4-litre normally aspirated petrol engine that offers 70kW and 130Nm in terms of power. Fuel consumption comes in at 5.4 litres per 100km for the five-speed manual model and 5.5 l/100km for the four-speed automatic.
Safety Features
Safety features are pretty decent as the Ciaz is standard with ABS with electronic brake force distribution (EBD) and emergency braking assistance (EBA). Also standard are dual front airbags, inertia reel seatbelts front and rear, and integrated alarm/immobiliser and childproof rear door locks.
The entry spec GL comes with a cloth interior where the GLX upgrades to leather upholstery with a leather steering wheel. The top GLX model also get 16-inch alloys thrown at it and fog lamps bolted onto the front bumper. The GLX also gets a chrome gear shift knob, while additional illumination includes rear reading lights and front footwell lighting.
