Is China the command base for the future of SUV motoring? This is the question being murmured in the conversations about cars in recent times. It is sparked by the high rate of contribution to design and technology by various Chinese automakers in the manufacture of the latest SUV models.
One of the newest offers from the Eastern giant is the Jetour Dashing, which made a grand entrance into the local market in September last year.
In January, Jetour SA revealed that more than 2,000 retail units of its Jetour Dashing and X70 Plus models have been sold since the brand’s local launch at the end of September last year.
The sales form by Dashing in SA follows global trends, with the brand shattering industry records for SUVs in 2024 by achieving a remarkable 568,387 units in annual sales.
This marked an extraordinary 80.3% year-on-year growth, an exceptional performance that positions Jetour as a major player in the global SUV market.
In SA, the Dashing Jetour comes in two models – the entry-level Dashing Momentum and the Deluxe version. It is slightly larger than most of the competition, such as the Kia Sportage and Toyota Rav4, yet cheaper than both despite its superior tech. Dashing’s larger-size benefits include sufficient legroom and a whopping 486-litre capacity boot.
Beyond the size, the five-seater SUV is known for modern technology, fashion and youthfulness. Its dynamic front and bold split-type LED headlights, combined with a sleek coupe-like profile and muscular contours, create a seamless fusion of power and elegance. The Dashing is available in seven different colours, including Onyx Black, Crimson Red, Glacier White and Slate Grey.
