Sikhulile Senior Secondary School emerged as Provincial Champions at the fourth provincial final of the 2014 COPA Coca-Cola under 15 Tournament this past weekend at SANDF Fields in Grahamstown, Eastern Cape.This is after beating V.M Kwinana High School of Uitenhage at the Eastern Cape Provincial Finals. The School will now represent the province at the National Finals, scheduled for KwaZulu-Natal from 17th – 19th October 2014.COPA Coca-Cola is a global initiative that gives millions of young football fans the opportunity to come together and celebrate their passion for football, as well as a chance to realize their greatest potential. Coca-Cola in conjunction with the South African Schools’ Football Association (SASFA) has been hosting this schools soccer tournament for the past eight years.“The COPA Coca-Cola under 15 Tournament is not just about developing the soccer skills of these young stars. It is also our goal to educate the youth during their formative years about the benefits of living healthy and active lifestyles. We are extremely proud of how dedicated these children are to the sport and the tournament itself,” says Fetsi Mbele, Marketing Assets Manager Coca-Cola South Africa.Guaranteed a place in the national finals so far is Robinvale Secondary School (Western Cape), Thlavekisa Secondary School (Mpumalanga) and Slindokuhle Secondary School (KwaZulu – Natal). The pressure in other provinces is building up as to who will join the ranks of Provincial winners on Saturday, 19th March, and goes through to the nationals.
At the end of the 2014 season, the school that is crowned the overall tournament champions will receive an R60 000.00, R30 000.00 for second place and R25 000.00 for the third place winners, to use towards development of their schools.
