Shwi noMtekhala first came to my attention few years ago when they win few SAMA awards in SunCity and since then I have been following them.
Now the duo are back with a new album. STOKVEL TALK took some time to speak to Shwi about they recently nominations for the SAMA awards. They were nominated in the Best Maskandi album alongside lengendary musicians such as Phuzekhemisi. Imthente, Thokozani Langa. Clearly it wont be a walk in the park as their fellow competitors are lengendary artists who are award winners in their own right. “i’m very happy to be amongst the nominees in the 2016 SAMA awards. I feel already a winner as I’m pitted against the best of the best in the industry”. When asked about what he does during his spare time he mentioned that he spends most of his time doing rehearsals in order to come up with new ways to up his game in this music business. ” all my fans must come to watch me during our show in Moses Mabhida stadium prior to the awards”.
