The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has officially released the social grant payment schedule for August 2025, bringing clarity to millions of beneficiaries across the country. The payment dates are strategically staggered to reduce long queues at ATMs, post offices, and retail outlets, ensuring that vulnerable citizens can access their funds safely and on time.
According to SASSA, grant payments will be made as follows:
Older Persons Grants: Tuesday, 5 August 2025
Disability Grants: Wednesday, 6 August 2025
Children’s Grants (including Child Support and Foster Care): Thursday, 7 August 2025
In addition, a new payment date—Friday, 8 August 2025—has been introduced specifically for verified beneficiaries who were previously under review or pending approval. This change aims to streamline the payment process and include all eligible recipients within the same payment cycle.
SASSA August 2025 Payment Breakdown
Older persons will receive R2,315, while those aged 75 and older will receive R2,335. Disability and care dependency grants remain at R2,315, and child support grants are set at R560. Foster care grants will pay R1,250, and the Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant stands at R370.
Beneficiaries are reminded that payments may take 24 to 48 hours to reflect, depending on the chosen payment channel—whether it is a SASSA card, bank account, or post office cash pay point.
Important Reminders for Beneficiaries
SASSA encourages beneficiaries not to rush to collection points on the first day, as their funds will remain in their accounts until withdrawn. To avoid unnecessary crowding, it is advisable to visit collection points one or two days after the scheduled payment date.
Beneficiaries are also urged to:
Check their SASSA cards and banking details to ensure validity.
Update any outdated personal information to avoid payment delays.
Monitor SMS or official notices regarding verification status or payment updates.
How to Check SASSA Payment Status
Beneficiaries can verify their payment status by visiting the official SASSA website at www.sassa.gov.za, using the SASSA WhatsApp number, or by contacting the toll-free helpline at 0800 60 10 11.
