The Osizweni Stadium in Newcastle, KwaZulu-Natal is set to stage the current season’s 2nd SAB League Football Festival on Saturday, 7 March. The SAB League Football Festival is a football and coaching development event in partnership with the South African Football Association (SAFA) and features teams, coaches and referees from the SAB League’s SAFA Majuba region.
Marphia FC, Juventus FC, Sbonelo FC, Amatsutsunyane FC, Real Senzeni FC and Computer Stars FC will participate in the event. The SAB League is also looking at providing skills development in KwaZulu-Natal through a coaching and refereeing workshop which will precede the football action. Highly qualified instructors and experienced referees will impart their skills on 22 amateur coaches and 20 referees.
The SAB League has over the years been the largest football development league with more than 30 000 young football players participating each year.
The SAB League is the primary platform for young football talent in South African football. To date, it has produced an endless list of seasoned national players including Reneilwe Letsholonyane, Andile Jali and Themba Zwane to mention just a few.
“For more than a decade, the SAB League has maintained its vision of providing a holistic approach to football development. Beyond the markings of the football pitch, the SAB League provides youngsters with the necessary life skills required to become role models in their communities” says SAB’s Manager Sustainability and CSI, Muzi Chonco.
“We are excited about the opportunity to showcase talent in Newcastle and we urge the community of Osizweni to come in their numbers and celebrate their very own stars,” says Chonco.
Outside of the exciting football festival, the community of Osizweni will have the opportunity to witness Osizweni’s latest musical act, Ngozi who will be performing for the crowd on the day.
