MultiChoice and the Premier Soccer League (PSL) today announced details of the first festival weekend of the MultiChoice Diski Challenge, which will be taking place at the King Zwelithini Stadium on Saturday, 13 September 2014.The festival weekend will feature inaugural matches of the MultiChoice Diski Challenge, which will be televised live on SuperSport 4 and all community TV stations available on DStv. The festival will kick-off at 9am.PSL Chairman, Dr Irvin Khoza together with Kwa-Zulu Natal MEC of Sport, Ntombikayise Sibhidla-Saphetha and PSL Exco Member Mato Madlala, addressed members of the media in Durban ahead of the festival’s opening weekend next week Saturday.The Minister of Sports and Recreation, Hon Fikile Mbalula; Group CEO of MultiChoice, Imtiaz Patel and Dr Khoza will open the festival with the unveiling of the MultiChoice Diski Challenge Trophy.The fixtures are: Amazulu vs Orlando Pirates; Maritzburg United vs Kaizer Chiefs; Bloemfontein Celtic vs University of Pretoria; Bidvest Wits vs Platinum Stars. The first festival weekend will include Durban’s finest entertainers, food and drink, as well as great giveaways. Entrance to the stadium will be free.Dr Khoza said: “We are excited about the kick-off of the MultiChoice Diski Challenge next weekend. We urge people from Durban and surrounding areas to come and support this initiative. We also urge the media to rally behind this tournament.”Pre-launch activations will take place from the 10th to the 12th of September at schools and communities within the Umlazi catchment area. Activations will include a meet and greet with SuperSport talent, ticket giveaways and spot prizes.The festival weekend also includes a life skills workshop on Sunday, 14 September, for the players from the teams who played in the inaugural matches. The workshop will cover goal setting, understanding the value of money as a means to secure a stable lifestyle and a true story from one of the legends in soccer on what it takes to achieve success in life on and off the field.
