Samsung Electronics South Africa has announced that all of its mid-high speed printers now support the Enterprise, Express and Hosted Editions of the secure mobile printing software from PrinterOn. The update covers printers in speed segment 3 or higher (higher than 21 pages per minute for A4 colour and 31 pages per minute for A4 mono). Businesses who currently own a printer in these segments can acquire the software through a firmware update.
PrinterOn, a leader in secure mobile printing and a Samsung subsidiary, offers all its editions for Samsung printers integrated directly onto these printers, eliminating the need for any extra equipment or drivers. A Samsung printer equipped with the PrinterOn embedded agents afford consumers secure and easy mobile printing features, including employee printing, guest printing and remote printing in office and home environments.
“As Samsung addresses the mobile needs of a greater range of businesses, we are pleased to provide a comprehensive and secure mobile printing solution with this expansion,” says Mike van Lier, Director of the Enterprise Business Division (EBD) at Samsung Electronics SA. “With PrinterOn, we are able to provide our diverse customers with industry-leading mobile printing technology that is both easy to use and secure.”
In light of the rapid proliferation of smartphones and tablets in the business environment, PrinterOn’s solutions have been designed to meet a growing need for printing purposes that allow users to print from any mobile device to any printer they choose. This includes, high quality document rendering in multiple formats, multiple print submission and print job delivery methods and key mobile operating system support.
Additionally, PrinterOn also offers a unique cloud-based directory service that enables a secure interface to mobile devices and private and public cloud servers. PrinterOn’s mobile cloud printing solutions seamlessly complement Samsung’s mobile ecosystem, building upon the company’s pioneering mobile printing initiatives
PrinterOn offerings have been deployed worldwide in over 120 countries at offices, hotels, universities and libraries. Since its inception in 2000, users of PrinterOn have printed over 80 million pages.
PrinterOn’s software editions include:
• Enterprise Edition: A private cloud-based mobile printing solution suitable for organisations with a high printing volume and multiple networks. PrinterOn Enterprise connects printers across an organisation’s secure networks to allow remote printing to all locations.
• Express Edition: A version suitable for organisations with a low printing volume. This private cloud-based mobile printing software can be installed with a single click and configured with a single user interface.
• Hosted Edition: A public cloud-based mobile printing solution suitable for public places such as hotels and airports. PrintedOn Hosted offers these businesses a way to provide easy and secure mobile printing to guests and patrons.
Deploying PrinterOn on Samsung printers takes only a once-off registration of the service. The PrinterOn embedded agents work with all of PrinterOn’s Enterprise, Express and Hosted editions.
“PrinterOn has achieved a milestone with this announcement today,” says Angus Cunningham, CEO of PrinterOn. “We are now able to offer customers around the world an integrated solution for secure mobile printing using PrinterOn software and Samsung printers.”
With the release of the new PrinterOn software agent for the company’s printers, Samsung expands the availability of the PrinterOn solution for secure mobile printing as part of its commitment to diversify its mobile technology portfolio for businesses. As a key business in its B2B division, Samsung Printing Solutions is working to widen its mobile solution offerings for businesses of all sizes.
“We are leading the way with cloud-based printing and this latest step forward is further assisting our customers in meeting their business needs with brilliant print workflow,” concludes van Lier.
