Numbers don’t lie, the S-Presso is a winner all round

When the Suzuki S-Presso made it to these shores three years ago, critics and doubting Thomases
mocked and sneered, condemning this big move to affordable SUV motoring as a sham.
But lo and behold, the S-Presso wasted no time punching above its weight, creating its own market in
the terrain of those who could not afford any of the big boys in the sector.
Numbers don’t lie; last year 45,000 units were sold in South Africa, a big jump from 27,618 in 2021.
Sales in Asia and Europe had been far more than decent as well, prompting Suzuki Auto to bolster the
S-Presso design for the latest model.
It is still a small SUV, however the new Suzuki S has a bold design with new chunky front and rear
bumpers. The prominence of changes in the exterior are further highlighted by multi-reflector halogen
headlamps and 14-inch alloy wheels.
The Interior
Standard features inside include power steering, new electric mirrors, front electric windows and an
engine auto stop-start system. The budget-friendly Suzuki also boasts an audio system which can be
operated from the steering wheel controls.
The models up to the 1.0 GL + MT include a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system that is compatible
with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, while top-of-the-range S-Edition models feature a 9-inch
touchscreen infotainment system. In the S-edition, the infotainment has a link up to the reverse camera.
Safety and Performance
Safety features include all the compenents of modern motoring, such as ABS with EBD, rear park
distance control, electronic stability programme, hill-hold control for the AMT variants, dual airbags,
pretensioner and force-limiting seatbelts.
The updated S-Presso returns with the tried and tested 1,0-litre, 3-cylinder engine that produces 49 kW
and 89 N.m of torque. The engine is paired to a five-speed manual transmission or a four-speed
automatic transmission. Above all, what is important is coomfort in driving and fuel economy and on that
score the Suzuki S-Presso delivers the goods with fuel consumption of 4,4l/100 km.
