Nominations are now open for the 2020 Mzansi Kwaito and House Music Awards
(MKHMA) celebrating the 5th anniversary of the event providing a well-deserved
platform raising kwaito and house music to new heights. The nominations close on the
31st March 2020 midnight.
After two years at Carnival City, the 2020 MKHMAs move to Sun City signalling a
bigger and better instalment of the awards. In celebration of women, the awards are
scheduled to take place on the 1st August 2020.
The Inaugural MKHMAs which took place on the 12th of November 2016 at the Walter
Sisulu Square (Soweto) became the first entertainment awards to exclusively
recognize Kwaito and House music genres. With the popularity of the awards, the
category for the Gqom music was introduced and this year the category for Amapiano
music has been added to the mix.
The public and industry are encouraged to nominate artists for any of the categories
below for music released between 1 January and 31 January 2020 for inclusion in this
year’s awards by visiting www.mkhma.co.za.

the MKHMAs continue to hold an important place in the South African music calendar.”
said the MKHMA CEO Ms Perfecta Malinga. “Though most people say Kwaito is dead,
the event continues to grow and cement its relevance in the music industry scene. The
number of entries we receive every year keep growing and this is the testimony of the
love for the kwaito music.”
