Against all odds, and fuelled by determination, Mhlongo delivered a remarkable sprint in the men’s 200m T64 finals. Crossing the finish line in a whopping 22.62 seconds, Mpumelelo placed in third position which earned him a bronze medal.

Beating his previous record of 22.81 seconds in 2021, the T44 para-athlete Mhlongo claimed a new world record for his category, yet again, proving that no obstacle is too great for the human spirit.

“Mpumelelo has represented South Africa with pride,” says Peta Dixon, Head of Sponsorships at Investec. “We have watched him overcome injury and remain steadfast in his dream, which we are extremely proud of. It has been a privilege supporting Mpumelelo from the start to the end of his journey at the 2024 Paralympics.”
