MTN Joyous Celebration – undoubtedly the most successful musical group in the history of democratic South Africa celebrates 20 Years of glorious worship and music making this holiday season.
The gospel music and choral super group will mark its two decades of making hits and excellence with the mother of all shows on December 19, 2015. The show will be held at Moses Mabida Stadium in Durban with parts of it broadcast live on SABC 1.
MTN Joyous Celebration has an impact that spreads not only across the African continent but across the world with their music.
This 20 year-milestone is a big deal not just for Joyous Celebration, but for the music industry in general. No one group has broken as many sales records and shaped the careers of as many, talented individuals who have gone on to become stars in their own right. Over the 2 decades, Joyous Celebration has helped raise the profile of Gospel music from a popularly loved genre to a leading genre; receiving nods from the music industry for the highest numbers of physical sales, and making gospel the most downloaded group on iTunes.

The music spectacle of the 20year celebration will bring all these accolades and achievements into view as the group celebrates and gives thanks to the nation for its perennial support over the years.
The names of luminaries who have graced the Joyous stage or cut their teeth with the production are the who-is-who of the South African music industry. They include the likes of choreographer & dancer extraordinaire, Somizi and musicians and singers like Nokukhanya Dlamini, Margaret Motsage, Brian Themba, Swazi Dlamini, Khaya Mthethwa, Vicky Vilakazi, the late Wendy Mseleku, jazz stars like Concord Nkabinde and many others.

The massive musical festivities on December 19, 2015 will be divided into various segments highlighting layers of Joyous Celebration’s 20 year legacy.
On the big day, doors will open at 12:30 with the celebrations and first performance starting at 14:00. A day filled with festivities is planned starting with a developmental platform for up and coming choirs and graduating to performances by the “Friends of Joyous” including comedians, motivational speakers and established gospel artists stepping up to the stage to inaugurate the day’s festivities before the Joyous 20 CD & DVD recording. The event is scheduled to end around 01h00.
