Mazda has in recent years upped the ante in its latest models across the board, from the ever-popular Mazda 3 to SUV models CX3 and CX5 up to the bakkies. The latest Mazda 2 fits perfectly in that mindset by the Japanese automaker known for ages for its modesty and albeit tried and tested reliability.
The Mazda 2 hatchback is small but incredibly good-looking and complete car for all occasions, from city sleeking to long distance trips it fits the bill. Comfort aside, its top-notch safety features makes this car a good value for money.
It is small all right but checks most important boxes for someone looking for a sporty, high performance car. Mazda 2 is so well designed that once inside; you forget you are in a small car because of the spacious interior.
What else makes this stylish compact hatchback so alluring? Modern standard features across all six derivatives the latest Mazda 2 generation is a big plus factor. For example, from the entry-level Active, midway Dynamic and Individual to range-topping Hazumi trim, Bluetooth capability is the way across the range. Apple CarPlay / Android Auto and Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) are also included as standard.
From Dynamic upwards, smart features such as an automatic dimming rearview mirror are added for more lux. But as far as standards are concerned, sheer driving pleasure is guaranteed across the board. This benefit is further enhanced by the new front seat design which has shot up comfort levels.
Changes in the exterior styling can be seen in the front and rear chrome bumper strip. The upper derivatives of the Mazda2, Individual and Hazumi models, spot a shark fin antenna.
LED xenon headlights are also standard feature. The Mazda2 Dynamic drives on 15-inch silver metallic alloy wheels while the Individual derivative is furnished with 16-inch, high-gloss painted alloy wheels. LED headlights are also standard across the range.
While the entry level Mazda Active has two airbags, in the front seats, the rest of the derivatives from Dynamic boast six airbags – side and curtain airbags. Then from the Individual, additional features are automatic folding mirrors, a reverse camera and rear parking sensors.
But like we said above, the standard features in entry level levels Mazda 2 are enough to give you enough motoring comfort and driving pleasure.
