Manchester Football Legends to face Orlando Pirates Legends at Ellis Park

Some of football’s most legendary players from Manchester will be going head to head with the Orlando Pirates for a one-off match next month.
Fans will be travelling from all corners of the globe to see legends like Paul Scholes (former Manchester United and England Player), Dwight Yorke (former Manchester United player) and Viv Anderson MBE (former Manchester United and England player) on the pitch to make football history in South Africa.
Viv Anderson said: “I’m excited to be joining some legendary players to take on one of South Africa’s oldest and best established football clubs, the Orlando Pirates, next month. Ellis Park Stadium will provide a fantastic setting for this one-off match bringing together a truly memorable mix of players for one time only. It’ll be a treat for the players and the supporters alike – a truly special game played in a spectacular setting.”
Manchester Football legends returning to the pitch for one very special game will include: Paul Scholes, Lee Sharpe, Louis Saha, Dwight Yorke, Viv Anderson MBE, Jesper Blomquist, Ronnie Jonson, Raimond van der Gouw, David May, Quentin Fortune, Lee Martin, Clayton Blackmore, Keith Gillespie, Russell Beardmore and Ben Thornley.
In the build up to the match, supporters have been vying to pre-book tickets early before they sell out, and a spokesperson for the iconic Ellis Park Stadium said they’d been delighted by the level of interest in this event.
Ellis Park Stadium hosted the 1995 Rugby World Cup and has also been the setting for a series of high-profile football matches. However, this will be the first time that the stadium’s welcomed so many of the world’s best-loved players for one game.

Nkosana Khoza from the Orlando Pirates said: “We’re looking forward to taking on the legends. It’ll make for great football and will offer our fans the chance to see some of the beautiful game’s most legendary names in action.”

With anticipation about the game building, high-profile partners Bidvest, MTN, Sun International and Adidas have come on board as sponsors for the event.

Tickets for the Manchester Football Legends V Orlando Pirates game at 5:00 pm on Saturday 15th November 2014 are available to buy online, with prices starting from R40.
