Johnnie Walker®, the number one selling scotch whisky in the world, welcomed the JoyWalkers at the Saxon Boutique Hotel near Sandton, with the aim of reintroducing the specially invited guests to the legacy and vision of Johnnie Walker®.
JoyWalkers are those individuals who have risen to success and great heights by walking with joy through tough circumstances in life.
They included multi-award winning singer songwriter, Lira; winning record producer and hit maker, RJ Benjamin; Metro FM radio presenter and DJ, Glen Lewis, award-winning actress Terry Pheto; Masterchef judge and Chef Benny Masekwameng and real estate entrepreneur Jonathan Liebmann. Kaya FM’s Thabo Mokwele who presents the JoyWalkers Live radio show, which airs every Tuesday at 21h00 Thabo Mokwele was also amongst the attendees.
Legendary soccer player Lucas Radebe and renowned sports commentator Carol Tshabalala also form part of the progressive JoyWalkers.
The attendees were taken through the 195 year-old story of the Johnnie Walker® brand and its values. From the original inspiration that moved John Walker in 1820 to bottle his first blended whisky, his son’s ambitious leap in 1860 with the unique square bottle and its 24 degree tilted label all the way to the birth of its perennial motto, Keep Walking; to today’s visionary mantra, Joy Will Take You Further.
The gathered JoyWalkers were treated to a demonstrative talk about the power of joy by Positive Psychology Expert, international speaker and author, Justin Cohen. The inspirational talk was followed by a tasting session by Whisky Expert Marsh Middleton, which aimed at explaining the various Johnnie Walker® variants, from Johnnie Walker® Red Label® all the way through to Johnnie Walker® Blue label™.
Once the guests’ palettes were whetted, a specially prepared dinner was served, paired with World Class 2015 national champion Dom DeLorenzo’s cocktails – designed around the various Johnnie Walker variants.
