Namibia and China have reaffirmed their long-standing friendship after Namibian President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah<\/strong> concluded a successful state visit to China, where she held high-level talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping<\/strong>. The visit resulted in a series of cooperation agreements aimed at accelerating Namibia’s economic growth through investments in agriculture, energy, infrastructure, mining, education and technology.<\/p>\n

The visit marked President Nandi-Ndaitwah’s first official state visit outside Africa since assuming office, underlining the importance Namibia places on its relationship with China. The Namibian delegation included government ministers and business leaders seeking to attract investment that will create jobs and stimulate sustainable economic development.<\/p>\n

During bilateral discussions in Beijing, the two heads of state agreed to deepen cooperation in several priority sectors. Agriculture emerged as one of the key areas of collaboration, with China pledging to support Namibia in modern farming techniques, agricultural technology, irrigation systems and food production. The partnership is expected to improve food security while creating opportunities for commercial farmers and rural communities.<\/p>\n

Energy cooperation also featured prominently during the talks. The two countries agreed to expand collaboration in renewable energy, green hydrogen and critical mineral development. Namibia is positioning itself as a future energy hub in Africa, and Chinese investment is expected to play an important role in unlocking the country’s vast natural resources while promoting local value addition and skills development.<\/p>\n

Infrastructure development remains another cornerstone of the partnership. China reaffirmed its willingness to support Namibia’s infrastructure expansion through investment in transport networks, logistics, public facilities and other strategic projects that will improve connectivity and boost economic activity. Better infrastructure is expected to strengthen trade, reduce business costs and improve access to markets for Namibian producers.<\/p>\n

The two governments signed eight cooperation documents, including agreements covering green minerals and an economic partnership framework. Both countries also committed themselves to promoting technology transfer, local processing of minerals and capacity building to ensure Namibia benefits more from its abundant natural resources.<\/p>\n

President Xi Jinping praised the enduring friendship between China and Namibia, noting that the two countries have enjoyed decades of mutual trust and cooperation. He welcomed President Nandi-Ndaitwah’s decision to make China her first state visit outside Africa, describing it as a strong demonstration of Namibia’s commitment to strengthening bilateral relations.<\/p>\n

President Nandi-Ndaitwah reaffirmed Namibia’s commitment to maintaining and expanding its strategic partnership with China. She emphasized that stronger cooperation would help Namibia diversify its economy, create employment opportunities and improve the livelihoods of its people. The President also highlighted the importance of attracting investment into sectors that can drive inclusive and sustainable growth.<\/p>\n

China is already one of Namibia’s largest trading partners and a significant investor in the country’s mining sector. The new agreements are expected to broaden cooperation beyond mining into agriculture, clean energy, infrastructure, education, science and technology, creating fresh opportunities for businesses and entrepreneurs in both countries.<\/p>\n

The successful state visit is being viewed as another milestone in China-Africa relations, demonstrating how strategic partnerships can promote investment, economic development and shared prosperity.
