Russian Bear has once again put sneaker culture in the spotlight, crowning Angel Mosiamedi as the King of Kicks 2026 and celebrating the individuality, creativity and next-level energy that continues to shape Mzansi’s street culture.

Following weeks of competition, sneaker knowledge and community engagement, the King of Kicks journey reached its ultimate moment as two finalists went head-to-head for the crown and the chance to claim a sneaker vault valued at R200 000. More than a competition, the campaign reinforced Russian Bear’s commitment to creating platforms that celebrate the people, passions and movements driving culture forward.

For sneakerheads, the right pair is never just about what you wear. It’s about identity, self-expression, personal style and the stories behind every pair. King of Kicks celebrates this culture by bringing together the collectors, enthusiasts and tastemakers who know that sneaker game is about more than heat – it’s about what you represent.

Through its partnership with YFM, Russian Bear once again invited sneaker lovers to step forward, put their knowledge to the test and showcase their individual sneaker identities. From competition entries and on-air challenges to social engagement, the campaign built momentum around a community united by a shared passion for sneakers and street culture.

After weeks of participation and competition, two finalists emerged from the campaign’s entry pathways, each bringing their own sneaker story, personality and passion to the race for the crown.

At the finale, the finalists faced off in a series of challenges designed to test their sneaker knowledge, confidence and ability to rise to the moment. With the coveted title and a R200 000 sneaker vault on the line, the pressure was on.

Ultimately, Angel Mosiamedi emerged victorious, earning the title of King of Kicks 2026 and the opportunity to unlock a vault packed with some of the most sought-after sneakers in the game.

Curated in collaboration with [SNEAKER PARTNER], the vault brought together rare releases, iconic silhouettes and coveted grails that reflect the depth and diversity of sneaker culture. For the newly crowned King, the win represents more than an extraordinary sneaker collection – it marks a moment of recognition for a passion that has become part of their identity.

The runner-up, Nonkosi Paul was also recognised for their outstanding performance, with R20 000, 00.

The King of Kicks finale brought the campaign to life through an experience that celebrated the energy of street culture, bringing together music, sneaker style and community in one space. From an explosive DJ set by DJ Tshegu and DJ Sliqe, to the highly anticipated crowning, the experience placed sneaker culture and the people behind it at the centre.

For Russian Bear, King of Kicks is part of a broader commitment to showing up in the spaces where culture lives and evolves. By creating opportunities for people to express themselves, connect with like-minded communities and celebrate what makes them unique, the brand continues to champion the next level of South African culture.

Speaking on the campaign and this year’s winner, Siviwe Mgolodela, Senior Brand Manager, Russian Bear said, “Sneaker culture has always been about more than the shoes – it’s about identity, originality and the confidence to stand out. With King of Kicks, Russian Bear celebrates the people who live and breathe that culture, giving them a platform to showcase what makes them unique. This year’s competition has been a powerful reminder of the passion and creativity within Mzansi’s sneaker community. Congratulations to our new King of Kicks 2026 – this is what elevating culture looks like.”

As Angel Mosiamedi steps into the title of King of Kicks 2026, Russian Bear celebrates not only a deserving winner, but the wider sneaker community whose passion, creativity and individuality keep culture moving forward.

The crown may belong to one King, but the culture belongs to everyone who helps shape it.
