South African voiceover artist and narrator Kuhle Nkosi is gaining international
\nrecognition following a remarkable run of accolades for Apex Alley, the documentary<\/p>\n
chronicling the extraordinary migration routes of sharks along Africa\u2019s east coast.<\/p>\n
The film has emerged as one of the year\u2019s standout wildlife and conservation
\ndocumentaries, receiving major recognition at two international film festivals the
\nInternational Tourism Film Festival Africa (ITFFA) and the Finisterra Brazil Film Art &
\nTourism Festival.<\/p>\n
Among the film\u2019s most significant accolades is the Best Narrator award presented to
\nKuhle Nkosi at the Finisterra Brazil Film Art & Tourism Festival, placing his work at the
\ncentre of an internationally recognised production.<\/p>\n
The recognition is particularly significant for Nkosi, whose voice carries audiences
\nthrough the film\u2019s extraordinary 2,000-kilometre journey across some of Africa\u2019s most

For Nkosi, however, the Best Narrator award represents a particularly important
\nmilestone.<\/p>\n
His voice guides viewers through a journey that begins with the tagging of bull sharks
\nin Mozambique and extends into the deep pelagic waters off Cape Point, connecting
\nscientific discovery, conservation and human storytelling.<\/p>\n
THE VOICE BEHIND THE JOURNEY<\/p>\n
Apex Alley follows scientists, marine biologists, oceanographers and conservationists
\nas they investigate the extraordinary migratory behaviour of sharks across
\nMozambique, South Africa and Mauritius.<\/p>\n
Among those featured are marine biologist Dr. Ryan Daly, traditional Zulu healer and
\nactivist Thandeka Hlongwa, oceanographer Danel Wentzel and veteran
\nconservationist Hugues Vitry.<\/p>\n
The documentary captures the tagging and tracking of bull sharks, tiger sharks,
\nhammerheads and other apex predators, while exploring the increasingly urgent
\nthreats facing the ocean\u2019s ecosystems, including overfishing, shark finning and climate
\nchange.<\/p>\n
The film documents discoveries that challenge our understanding of shark migration,
\nincluding a bull shark recorded travelling approximately 6,500 kilometres from South
\nAfrica to Nigeria, as well as the transoceanic journey of a tagged tiger shark across
\nthe Indian Ocean.<\/p>\n
At the heart of these stories is Nkosi\u2019s narration providing the connective tissue
\nbetween the science, the people and the extraordinary journey taking place beneath
\nthe surface.<\/p>\n

Nkosi sees the international recognition as both a personal milestone and an
\nopportunity to shine a light on the depth of creative talent emerging from South Africa.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019d love for this achievement to open the door to working with production companies
\nfrom different parts of the world. With around 100 submissions representing 80
\ncountries, the festival created an opportunity for filmmakers and creatives from across
\nthe globe to encounter South African talent.\u201d<\/p>\n

\nartists in this country who possess the skills to compete internationally. I hope it
