The Imilonji KaNtu Choral Society Was recently announced as a nominee for best Classical Instrumental album, SAMA 23 at an exclusive event held at Kempton Park. This was a deserve recognition for the group founded in Soweto in the early 1980’s.The Choral Society emerged from humble beginnings with most of its members coming from various backgrounds in the community. The choir has earned a favorable reputation within the political, religious and international communities. Under the baton of George Gobingca Mxadana (OIS) the Choral Society has performed thoughout South Africa and abroad. Gobingca, as he is fondly known, has to his name numerous accolades for his undying love for music. The Choral Society has performed with orchestras including the KwaZulu-Natal Philharmonic Orchestra and the London Symphony Orchestra.

Tenors: Samuel Khoza, Albert Kubheka, Mavuso Mabece, Joyce Moloi, Andile Ndlovu, Nomathemba Ngxola, Innocent Sibisi. Basses: Dumisane Kumalo, Nkosana Liwali, Leslie Mofokeng, Tau Moleleki, Jacob Motloung, Thamsanqa Nkomo, Thamsanqa Qumba, Michael Shabalala. The group will compete against Bongani Radebe, University of Pretoria, The voice of Angels and also Charl Du Plesis trio. It remains to be seen who will emerge victorious on the night.
