In a recent visit by Deputy Minister of the Department of Communications and Digital Technologies, Mr. Philly Mapulane, HONOR Technologies Africa reaffirmed its steadfast dedication to the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) sector. The visit served as a platform for HONOR to showcase its cutting-edge technology and unwavering commitment to driving innovation within the industry.

During the visit to HONOR Technologies Africa’s new head office, General Manager Fred Zhou provided Deputy Minister Philly Mapulane with comprehensive insights into HONOR’s ongoing initiatives. Zhou hinted at an upcoming significant investment announcement slated for the Presidential Investment Conference later this year, underscoring HONOR’s commitment to advancing the ICT landscape in South Africa.

“We view South Africa as an exciting environment ripe for exploring opportunities in communication solutions,” Zhou remarked. “Our focus is on facilitating high-stake conversations, collaborations, and negotiations through innovative technology.”

Highlighting its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts, HONOR showcased its participation in the YES initiative, aimed at empowering the youth. Currently, 11 learners are gaining valuable experience at HONOR’s three South African offices, while the additional five are actively developing an app for the Durban University of Technology.

Slindokuhle Mbuyisa, Public Affairs and Government Relations Manager at HONOR, emphasized the company’s commitment to engaging with the youth demographic. “The YES Initiative aligns with our philosophy of addressing systemic challenges like youth unemployment while also catering to our target market,” Mbuyisa stated. “We also want the youth to actively participate in our upcoming initiatives like the HONOR Talents Global Design Awards, fostering a culture of innovation and inclusivity.”

HONOR Talents Global Design Awards is an initiative that brings together those at the forefront of youth art, mobilising the rich resources of the HONOR brand to support, empower and incubate more original forces. The project holds space for a global dialogue between art and technology around design, design experience and design resilience, facing the spiritual needs of consumers by resonating with their core values. Consumers are encouraged to stay engaged and look forward to updates as we continue to innovate and empower the next generation of global talent,” expressed Mbuyisa.

“Our focus extends beyond engineering smartphones; we’re committed to societal resilience and addressing pressing issues like youth unemployment, ” Mbuyisa added.

HONOR Technologies’ participation in the YES Initiative and others like the HONOR Talents Global Design Awards underscores its ethos of supporting, empowering, and incubating original talent. The company’s forthcoming collaborations with stakeholders in events such as the Girls in ICT event in Katlehong and the Job Fair 2024 of Chinese-invested Enterprises in South Africa further solidify its commitment to driving positive change within the ICT sector.
