BPD Advertising, in association with Roman’s Pizza, arranges an event honouring Tshwane’s child protection units
“We owe our children – the most vulnerable citizens in any society – a life free from violence and fear.” ― Nelson Mandela
South Africa has one of the highest rates of child abuse in the world, making the work done by our national Child Protection Units extremely important. These units identify and rescue children who are being abused, exploited or trafficked. On the 30th of May 2015, during Child Protection Week, BPD Advertising teamed up with Roman’s Pizza to thank and honour staff from the child protection units in Tshwane for their dedicated service to the children of South Africa by hosting them at a special lunch event.
The event, which was held at Roman’s Pizza in Hatfield, was attended by over 110 people from the Ga-Rankuwa, Mamelodi, Pretoria Central, Sunnyside and Temba districts and was a great success. The unit staff were commended for all their hard work and ongoing efforts to keep children safe. The event was inspired by the Green Ribbon Campaign, a local initiative by Matla A Bana, Safeline, the Connect Network, Newkidz and Friends of Child Protection. The campaign encourages all South Africans to speak out about abuse and share stories of hope, hold church services and support the Green Ribbon Campaign in any way that they can.
Bonnie Lee, CEO of BPD Advertising, explains why they chose to host this event: “We are very grateful to the staff of these units for working relentlessly to give children a better life and planned this lunch to show our appreciation. BPD Advertising is proud to support the child protection units and to be involved with Matla A Bana, which does fantastic work with abused and vulnerable children.” She adds, “We would like to thank Roman’s Pizza for partnering with us in this initiative and providing the venue and delicious menu for the event.”
BPD Advertising is a proudly South African full service advertising and communications agency with an ethos of working to create rejuvenation and change.
