The date is set for the 2014 Morula CANSA Walk / Run For Life – Saturday, 25 October 2014. The event, now in its fourth year, is in aid of CANSA operations in Gauteng. This year, hopes are pinned on drawing more than 1 000 participants, and breaking the previous fund-raising record.The Morula CANSA Walk for Life will kick off at the casino complex, taking walkers and runners on a scenic 10km tour of the Mabopane area. Open to people of all ages and fitness levels, the walk is a community-styled event that, in addition to raising funds andawareness for CANSA, also serves to bring friends, families and colleagues together for some fun outdoor activities. People can choose to run or walk depending on their level of fitness and ability.All proceeds raised are donated to CANSA’s Gauteng operations to assist with the extension of their cancer prevention and education programs; patient care and support facilities.“We are thrilled to announce the 2014 Morula CANSA Walk / Run For Life. Over the years, participation has grown tremendously and it is always heartening to see so many people walking together for a good cause. It is a highly-spirited event that welcomes people of all ages, including children.“We hope to break our previous fund raising record and be able to make a contribution to CANSA to support their much-needed support service for people affected by cancer. Registration costs R70 per person, including a T-shirt, or R40 per person without a T-shirt. People can register for the event at the Morula Casino Reception or contact Ria du Plessis on 012 329 3036. Late entries will also be accepted on the day from 05h30. The walk will commence from the Morula parking area at 07h00. There will be food and refreshments on sale, including juicy boerewors rolls, sandwiches, snacks and cold drinks.
Medical doctors and nurses will also be on site conducting blood pressure screenings.
