HOW WAS THE CLUB FORMED?
It was formed after we realized that most families within our community encounters financial problems when they bury their loved ones. We all stay in the same area in Lusaka, Dan Village situated in Tzaneen.
HOW MANY ARE YOU AND WHEN DO YOU MEET?
We meet once a month, the first Sunday of every month and we are 32 members in the group.
On the day we contribute monies and also discuss things like late payments and non payments of contributions.
WHAT DO YOU DO WITH YOUR CONTRIBUTIONS
We save money to assist our members with burials and also to buy groceries for December period. We also oversee our cultural practices by digging the grave, providing security and making sure everone abides by our custom at that particular funeral.
WHAT ARE YOUR CHALLENGES
The late or non payment of contribution is our biggest challenge. Communications is another problem as some members working far away from home.
DO YOU ACCEPT NEW MEMBERS
New members are welcome to join our group but the have to pay a joining fee to become part of the group. Women are not allowed to attend meetings but they can send their sons to come on their behalf.
FUTURE PLANS
We want to grow this group by adding more members. We also plan to buy a minibus that we can use as a group and also to assist with transporting family members during funerals.
