SuperSport United drew 2-2 against Kaizer Chiefs in an action-packed game at the Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit on Saturday, 29 April 2017.
There was fireworks on and off the pitch as Engen, South Africa’s leading petroleum brand*, and SuperSport United made the event a memorable occasion, with pre-match activations that thrilled fans attending the game.
The pre-match Engen Matsatsantsa Fan Experience started two hours before kick-off and fans streamed through the gates to participate.
Activities included a Shoot & Win E-GAME, an Engen and SuperSport United branded Selfie Frame, and crowd giveaways of Engen and SuperSport United merchandise.
Matsatsantsa ambassador and local football legend Jabu Mahlangu greeted local fans and challenged them to beat him in the Shoot & Win E-GAME competition. Jabu entertained as the challengers fell one-by-one. The former Bafana Bafana ball wizard eventually finished with the highest score on the day.
A local DJ kept fans entertained with the latest tunes, while many jostled for an opportunity to take a “selfie” with the Engen Matsatsantsa promos ladies and Mahlangu.
Rinavho Litsatsantsa travelled all the way from Thohoyandou, a township in Limpopo to enjoy the Engen Matsatsantsa Fan experience. “I came all the way from Venda to be here today, there was no way I was going to miss this Engen Matsatsantsa Fan Experience or the chance to meet Jabu Mahlangu. He was one of my football heroes’ when I was young,” said Litsatsantsa.
“This is a great event and my friends and I are having a great time. Thank you Engen and SuperSport United, I would like to see an activation like this in Limpopo when SuperSport play there,” added Litsatsantsa.
Brad Bergh, Engen’s Group Sponsorship Manager, said the clash between two giants of the Premier Soccer League was a spectacular evening’s entertainment for the community of Nelspruit.
“Engen has a proud and successful partnership with Supersport United, and judging by the performance on the field and at the Engen Matsatsantsa Fan Experience it was an exciting occasion for all the spectators,” added Bergh
