Copa Coca Cola Sabu camp concluded

After five days of creating new friends and living a healthy and active lifestyle, the 2015 COPA Coca-Cola SABU Camp, which took place at the High Performance Centre in Pretoria, concluded on Friday, 11 September. The 2015 camp closed with a fantastic closing ceremony, which saw all participants receiving certificates. The COPA Coca-Cola SABU Camp is the pinnacle of this year’s COPA Coca-Cola tournament in Southern Africa, which annually sees more that 1.3 million teenagers compete in over 60 different countries globally. The camp which is spearheaded by Coca-Cola, kicked off on Monday and involved 67 teenagers from seven Southern African countries including, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Malawi, Botswana, Swaziland and Lesotho.

During this year’s SABU Camp, the teenagers learned about and experienced modern training methods from some of the continents most respected footballer icons such as former Leeds United defender, Lucas Radebe, as well as 1996 AFCON winning coach Clive Barker. Not only were the future football stars taught the best football training techniques, but they also received essential guidelines on the importance and being healthy and active.

Outside of the football action on the field, Coca-Cola gave the teenagers an unforgettable tour of Africa’s largest football arena, the FNB Stadium, where they learnt how the FIFA World Cup final hosting stadium was designed and constructed.

Summing up what has been yet another successful camp, Coca-Cola’s Senior Communications Manager, Mr. Fetsi Mbele, expressed his delight at how Coca-Cola touches the lives of a number of youngsters across the world through football.

“For more than a decade, Coca-Cola has been playing an instrumental role through football in helping teenagers live a healthy and active lifestyle. The COPA Coca-Cola SABU Camp is a great initiative of bringing kids from various countries together to create new friendships and most importantly, promote a healthy and active lifestyle,” concluded Mbele.
