African Awards, an extraordinary musical event and awards ceremony commemorating
South Africa's 30th anniversary as a Republic. This landmark celebration pays homage to
three decades of democracy and artistic expression and will take place on Saturday, June 8,
2024, at the esteemed Sandton Convention Centre. The event promises an unforgettable
evening of music and cultural revelry.
The Legends and Legacy African Awards serve as a beacon of South Africa's cultural
journey, spotlighting the resilience and strides made within the realm of arts and culture over
the past 30 years. Honouring musical artists and paying tribute to legends, the event will
feature a lineup of esteemed acts and recognise the legacies of iconic artists whose
contributions have shaped the nation's identity.
The headlining artist, recipient of the Legends And Legacy award will be announced on May
17 2024 at an exclusive media launch for the awards. The awardee, to be celebrated on June
8, will receive a prestigious gold medal award as a token of appreciation from Team Imajin.
The Awards ceremony event features supporting artists, including King Promise, Camido,
Mafikizolo, Ntokozo Mbambo, DJ Zinhle, DBN Gogo, Corlea Bortha, and Princess
MacDonald. Each artist brings their unique talent and energy, promising an evening of
electrifying performances that pay homage to Africa's rich musical heritage.
The Legends and Legacy African Awards aim to provide long-overdue recognition to musical
legends, both living and posthumously, ensuring their contributions endure in collective
memory. The event also seeks to elevate South Africa's cultural heritage and musical legacy
while fostering solidarity with the Sustainable Development Goals.
