Earlier this year, South Africa’s most iconic chocolate bar introduced its new logo and packaging design to the nation. To drive awareness of the new packaging, Cadbury Lunch Bar ran a highly impactful Taxi Rank campaign where consumers could stand a chance to win a Hungry Hustler Grand prize worth R200 000.
The campaign encouraged commuters from the Alex, Randburg, Bara and Bree Taxi ranks to participate in a rewarding loyalty program. To enter commuters needed to purchase a Cadbury Lunch Bar and return their wrapper in exchange for points in the form of a loyalty card. A full card with 9 stickers afforded its owner an instant prize as well as an entry into the grand prize draw.
“With so many South Africans supporting the brand over the years and a large portion of our Lunch Bar volumes going through the informal market, we felt that this was a great opportunity to reward these consumers for their loyalty,” says Grant van Niekerk, Mondelez SA Category Lead for Chocolate.
Lunch Bar is honoured to announce that Gladys Maluleke, who entered at Bara Taxi Rank, is the Hungry Hustler grand prize winner. At a prize handover held in Bruma, a well-deserving and modest Gladys was gifted with a Nissan NP 200 1.6i Base bakkie, smartphone, laptop, printer, airtime, shopping vouchers and much much more.
Further to this, Lunch Bar is also proud to reveal that the Bree Taxi Rank collected the most wrappers during the campaign period rewarding the rank a refurbishment worth R100 000.
Throughout the campaign, Lunch Bar partnered with a few talented entrepreneurs, including John Vusi Mfupi, an artist who specialises in creating pieces of art using an up cycled paper collage technique. To close off this highly successful campaign, John has used the collected Cadbury Lunch Bar wrappers to create a unique artwork of the Johannesburg skyline which can be seen on billboards and branded towers at numerous locations around Gauteng, such as Germiston, Klipspruit, Mamelodi, Ga-Rankuwa and in the East Rand to name a few.
