Burn some rubber at the Rand Show’s drfting track

Reading Time: 2 minutes

There’s a high-octane show to be seen at the Rand Show’s drifting track this year, where South Africa’s ultimate drifting team, the Greensky, Dragon Energy, Achilles Tyres & Chevrolet Lumina Drift Team, will be pumping up the adrenalin in a spinning, sliding, smoking-rear-wheel display of drifting flair.
From 14-23 April 2017, pro drifting drivers Ryde Jones, Jim McFarlane and Mikey Skelton will give the crowds a taste of the high-speed, engine-revving world of drifting, in displays that will take place throughout the day.
For R150, visitors can also experience the thrill for themselves. Those with nerves of steel and a need for speed can hop into the 6.0-litre V8 Chevrolet SS Lumina, or the sexy 3.5-litre V6 Nissan 350Z SupaDrift for a wheel-screeching ‘suicide ride’ around the drifting track with these fearless drivers.
The drifting team is also giving visitors both young and old a sliding experience of a different kind this year … on bum boards instead of in cars, at the bum board slope beside the drifting track.
Thrill-seekers can then head for the Rand Show’s new Action Zone to see the gravity-defying feats of freestyle motocross daredevils “Sick” Nick de Wit and his crew of top FMX riders. And petrolheads shouldn’t miss the Route-66-themed motoring hall, for a nostalgic road trip back in time: see displays of classic cars and bikes, and watch a Backdraft Cobra being built from the chassis up.
All this great action is just part of the lineup of top-class entertainment at this year’s Rand Show. South Africa’s biggest consumer expo is the only show to offer attractions covering everything from sport, motoring, military, and science and technology, to design, animals, gardening, health and beauty, and variety shows … there’s an entire day out for the whole family packed into each Rand Show ticket.
