The 27th of May to the 2nd of June marks Child Protection Week in South Africa, which is an opportunity to take a stand against the abuse and exploitation of children. In support of this cause, a lunch has been organised honouring the work of South Africa’s child protection units. Staff from child protection units in the Tshwane districts of Ga-Rankuwa, Mamelodi, Pretoria Central, Sunnyside and Temba have all been invited to attend.
The event, which will be held on the 30th of May at Roman’s Pizza in Hatfield, has been organised by BPD Advertising in partnership with Roman’s Pizza. The objective is to thank the heroic people who work each day to investigate crimes against children. The event ties in with the Green Ribbon Campaign, a local initiative by Matla A Bana, Safeline, the Connect Network, Newkidz and Friends of Child Protection. The campaign encourages all South Africans to speak out about abuse and share stories of hope, hold church services and support the Green Ribbon Campaign in any way that they can.
BPD Advertising, a full service advertising and communications agency, is a proudly South African business with a passionate interest in the welfare of the young citizens of the country. Tying into the BPD Advertising ethos of working to create rejuvenation and change, and of making a positive contribution through their work, the agency has chosen to become involved with Matla A Bana by showing those who work in child protection that their efforts are acknowledged.
Bonnie Lee, CEO of BPD Advertising says, “We know that these individuals have a very difficult job, but they have such a critical role to play in keeping children safe. For that reason, we wanted to raise our voice in solidarity with Matla A Bana, Child Protection Week and the Green Ribbon Campaign, by giving something back to these wonderful men and women.” She adds, “We look forward to hosting them alongside Roman’s Pizza and want to make them feel welcome and appreciated.” It is anticipated that over 140 people will attend the lunch.
