Bestmed, one of the top five open medical schemes in the coutry and the winner of the 2015 FIA Health Product of the year Award, is hosting its fourth annual Golf Day at Pecanwood Country Club on Thursday, 27 August 2015 to raise funds for the Cancer Association of South Africa (CANSA).
The event has attracted 128 players from various industries year on year, and it is expected that the number of participants will grow this year. The day will kick off with some sunscreen activation then the golfers will move to the course where both professional and novice players will play 18 holes respectively. The golfers will also get to use one of 15 golfer Tomtoms for the day.
“This is one of the most important days on our events calendar, as it amplifies our preventative healthcare messages of Be Active, Be Safe, Be Nutri-Wise, Be Fin-Fit and Be Happy. Our strategic partnership with CANSA, which dates back five years, allows us to raise awareness and educate people about cancer, and ways in which it can be prevented. Last year a substantial amount of money was raised which went towards CANSA,” says Bestmed’s Corporate Communications Manager, Sasja la Grange.

Among other activities on the day there will be a raffle, where participants will purchase tickets, of which the proceeds will be donated to CANSA. Two winners will be randomly drawn, with the first prize as two nights at Sun City at the Palace for two, including breakfast and second prize of a two-night stay at the five-star D’oreale Grande hotel for two people sharing including breakfast.

Bestmed will also be supporting the J9 Foundation – a non-profit organisation formed by rugby legend, Joost van der Westhuizen in aid of those suffering from Motor Neuron Disease. During the Golf Day there will be an auction off on Golf Clubs signed by Gary Player and rugby balls with autographs from various rugby legends. Proceeds from this activity will be donated to the Foundation.
