Chinese automakers have found a warm home in South Africa, with the local car market continue to
enthusiastically latch on the latest models from the Asian economic powerhouse.
This time, the new model entering SA’s competitive SUV market is BAIC’s upgraded BEIJING X55 PLUS.
The vehicle brings a new level of sophistication and advanced technology, improving on the launch
model, the BEIJING X55. Even better, the PLUS is available at the same competitive price, starting from
R429,900.
What’s in the redesign?
The BEIJING X55 PLUS introduces several new features that elevate the driving experience, making it
the ideal choice for discerning motorists. The striking new design showcases a fresh design with Sporty
Blade Wheels and a Dual Quad Exhaust, which contribute to a more dynamic and powerful appearance.
It is available in an array of vibrant colours, including Scarlet Red, Polar White, Electric Yellow, Metallic
Grey, Krypton Grey, and Turquoise Blue, providing drivers with stylish choices to match their
personalities.
Interior
Inside is luxury galore. Labelled Full Black Interior, the vehicle’s interior boasts sophistication, modern
tech and elegance. The cabin is equipped with advanced connectivity features, including Easy
Connection, which allows users to mirror their smartphone screens on the vehicle’s head unit, ensuring
seamless access to apps and entertainment. The BEIJING X55 PLUS offers both wireless charging and
a Type-C charging port, making it convenient for drivers to keep their devices powered on the go.
Safety and Driver Assistance
Safety is a top priority with the BEIJING X55 PLUS, which comes equipped with a comprehensive suite
of advanced driver assistance systems. These include a 540° 4D Transparent Chassis, which provides a
panoramic view of the road beneath the vehicle. This helps the driver when they navigate challenging
terrains.
Further cutting-edge safety technologies are Blind Spot Detection (BSD), Intelligent Cruise Assist (ICA),
Lane Keep Assist (LKA), Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) and Forward Collision Warning (FCW).
These systems work together to ensure a safer and more secure driving experience.
The BEIJING X55 PLUS also includes a sophisticated voice control system capable of managing over
200 functions, offering an intuitive, hands-free interaction with the vehicle’s systems.
Despite all these super upgrades, the BEIJING X55 PLUS still retains its attractive price point of
