This beautiful beast bears the label Cross Country, right? No ways you would want to drive in the mud with the Volvo V60 Cross Country: this fine SUV is made for good roads. If you had one you would not be complaining, despite the misleading name, because you will be hugely joyous to be owning such a luxurious and versatile car.
Since the D4 was made to take a lot more pounding than the standard V60 model, it can therefore be used offroad. The fact is that, despite its all-wheel drive ability, the Cross Country is clearly not your rugged 4×4 car.
The new Cross Country is stylish – that sure does not take long notice, despite your distance from the car. It’s a five-seater SUV of the future, and has the whistles and drums to vouch for those accolades. Multimedia USB/Bluetooth/aux infotainment system with eight speakers, 7-inch’ colour display screen, and rear park assist are all standard features.
If you like you can ring more bells with the D4’s optional Sport Pack, which includes heated front seats, a three-spoke leather steering wheel, keyless entry, headlamp cleaners, Volvo’s Dynamic Bending Lights and Park Assist front and rear.
But the Volvo was never built for show but reliability, safety and comfort. Hence the typical Swedish minimalist take to the interior; adequately laid out leather and quality fittings, some made of plastic material but still combine to offer the user that premium feel.
Lest we forget, we are not talking any Volvo here but the V60 Cross Country. It comes with two but not so dissimilar diesel engine models: the AWD Inscription and AWD Momentum. Both models have maximum engine power of 140kW and 190hp horsepower, but the Incription gives 420Nm for torque while the Momentum’s is 400Nm – not much difference.
Top of the range Inscription’s 2.5 litre and 5-cylinder turbodiesel engine boasts very low fuel consuption, of 5.7 L/ 100km. It’s a 6-speed transmission auto which can reach the top speed of 205km/h.
What more can be said about the V60 D4? That at the touch of a button you can lower the rear headrests when there were no passengers in the back, to allow better rear vision for the driver? There’s more but perhaps just get D4 and see for youserlf!
