2025 Suzuki Dzire is about comfort and value for money

Reading Time: 2 minutes

The all‐new 2025 SuzukiDzire made its South African debut on 12 May 2025, arriving with a refreshed design, enhanced safety and value-packed pricing. Overall, it is a budget-friendly compact sedan that aims to offer a blend of style, value and practicality.

Exterior
The Dzire sports a sleeker, more mature look compared to its predecessor. Up front, narrow halogen projector headlamps flank a sharp grille — finished in piano black on GL+ models — while at the rear, T‐shaped LED tail lamps are tied together with a chrome strip. Buyers can choose from seven metallic and pearl finishes, such as Alluring Blue, Gallant Red, and Nutmeg Brown.

Interior
The cabin echoes the Swift’s driver-centric layout, featuring a wraparound dashboard, horizontal vents, and controls angled toward the driver. The GL+ variant boasts a two-tone beige and black interior, which reads as premium though may show dirt over time. Rear occupants benefit from directional air vents, rear USB‐A/C ports, a centre armrest with cup holders, and an expansive 378‐litre boot. The GL+ models introduce a 7′′ touchscreen offering wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, alongside Bluetooth, cruise
control, multifunction steering wheel, reverse camera, and parking sensors.

Performance
Power comes from a 1.2 l three‐cylinder Z12E petrol engine delivering 60kW and 112Nm, mated to a five‐speed manual (with auto stop/start) or CVT (exclusive to GL+). Suzuki claims a combined fuel use of 4.4L/100km, though real‐world tests hovered around 4.3–5L/100km. The manual model offers a responsive city drive but can feel undergeared on the open highway; the CVT delivers smoother operation—though previous AGS/AMT systems have faced occasional lags.

Safety
Every model includes six airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, hill-hold control, rear parking sensors, ISOFIX anchor points, and pretensioning seat belts. The Dzire achieved a five‐star rating for adult and four for child occupant safety in Global NCAP tests—an exceptional feat in its class.

Verdict
The Dzire is suitable for urban commuters, young families or first-time car buyers expecting solid value with modern features — all backed by strong manufacturer warranties.
