Vodacom NXT LVL Takes Undiscovered Talent to Greater Heights
Vodacom NXT LVL was launched in 2016 as a platform aimed at giving young South Africans under the age of 25 the opportunity to follow their passion and realise their dreams by giving them access to all the things they love. This includes data, rewards, music and others. Moreover, it focuses on the development of talent through various platforms that focus on mentorship and coaching.
For the first leg of this initiative, Vodacom NXT LVL partnered with South African soccer Legends Mark Fish and Lucas Radebe, amongst others to mentor kids between the ages of 14 to 16 in the field of soccer. The winning and runner-up teams where presented with bursaries that cover their studies at the TuksSport High School until they matriculate.
Pleasingly the teenagers are doing exceptionally well academically and on the field. Five of the learners were given an opportunity to represent South Africa at the Gothia Cup Schools International tournament in Sweden this past June.
Vodacom NXT LVL Marketing Manager Deidre Lodwig says, “Seeing that the majority of children in South Africa don’t have access to quality education, giving these kids the gift of education was always the first prize for us, and now to see them excel both in the classroom and on the sportsfield, gives what we do purpose. We are exceptionally proud of them.”
The soccer scout initiative is just one successful fragment of the network’s umbrella. Vodacom is now set to unearth South Africa’s next biggest music superstar with its new show, NXT LVL, currently underway on DSTV Channel 161.
“The Vodacom NXT LVL platform will continue to use the power of technology to give young South Africans the tools and the opportunities they need to realize their dreams. With this new show, we hope to immerse ourselves in discovering the next big talent which we believe our country richly possesses. It is bound to be an exciting journey for us and our NXT LVL subscribers,” added Lodwig.
