The third instalment of the Consumer Awards took place last night (25 January), featuring a wide range of automotive players on the South African motoring landscape.
The digital motoring platform, created 13 distinct categories with three finalists selected per category. Toyota had three finalists in the mix; Yaris Pulse, 86 and Fortuner – representing Compact hatch, Fun car and Adventure SUV respectively.
The Fortuner model range consistently features at the top of the sales charts, with the versatile 7-seater SUV racking up over 1000 sales per month on a regular basis. The voting public echoed the sales charts by electing Fortuner as their favourite Adventure SUV – beating the Ford Everest and Mitsubishi Pajero Sport.
This is a testament to Fortuner’s capabilities and ‘fit’ with the South African lifestyle. Fortuner’s versatility, adaptability and multi-purpose usage truly strikes a chord with the South African car buyer and they can be seen conquering the most challenging off-road obstacles and then slotting into the suburban routine afterward.
The range includes two diesel engines (2.4 and 2.8 GD-6) and two petrol engines (2.7 litre 4-cylinder and 4.0 litre V6). These can be paired with a choice of manual or automatic transmission and either rear-wheel drive or selectable four-wheel drive on most derivatives.
