The 2019 Shell Helix Ultra Cup is confirmed to take place on 12 October 2019. The tournament rights holder, SMSA Tournament Pty (Ltd), and title sponsor, Shell Downstream South Africa (Pty) Ltd, are pleased to share that the Shell Helix Ultra Cup will once again see Kaizer Chiefs face off against Mamelodi Sundowns at the iconic FNB Stadium in Nasrec, Johannesburg. The Shell Helix Ultra Cup is a showcase of one of the best rivalries that South African football has to offer – the never ending battle between Amakhosi and Masandawana.

The inaugural event in 2018 saw Sundowns claim bragging rights by lifting the cup; this year Kaizer Chiefs will hope to claim the cup at their home stadium, while Sundowns will aim to successfully defend their crown. The Shell Helix Ultra Cup celebrates that these two teams and their fans bring ultra-footballing performance to the field, to the stands and to everyday conversations every time they get together. With this in mind, the event promises to continue to fuel anticipation among fans through exciting campaigns to deliver a world-class event.

SMSA Tournament CEO, Jaco Beukes, says, “The 2019 Shell Helix Ultra Cup is going to be a spectacular match day between Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns. SMSA Tournament and Shell Downstream South Africa can assure fans of an incredible match day experience. Both teams are ready, and we will once again head to FNB Stadium to see who lifts the cup on 12 October 2019.”

Shell Downstream South Africa General Manager for lubricants, Anton Niemann, notes, “As Shell Downstream South Africa, we are excited to be part of this prestigious tournament, The Shell Helix Ultra Cup, for a second year. We want to ensure the fans have the best experience possible and will be launching some exciting surprises. Shell’s products are synonymous with high quality and excellence and this event will be no different. We are proud to bring this world-class tournament to soccer fans across South Africa”.
