Pink Power launches to kick off women’s month celebrations

To kick off women’s month celebrations, Pink Power, a women empowerment platform was launched this month under the theme, Recognise, Inspire, Revive and Energise. The launch event was held at Emoyeni on Thursday, 02 August 2018.

Attended by more than 100 women, the event showcased some of the most successful stories connecting women and highlighting challenges women face on a daily basis in society. A gathering of renowned thought leaders, entrepreneurs and game changers, Pink Power brought together businesswomen and entrepreneurs to build a community and nurture a culture of collaboration and support amongst women.

Speaking at Pink Power was Jo-Ann de Wet – Chief Operations and Supply Chain Officer for McDonald’s SA, Dudu Msomi – CEO of Busara Leadership Partners, Vika Shipalana – Founder and CEO of VBS Luxury Group and Dr Sujata Garach of Sujata Garach. Topics covered on the day included leadership inside and outside the boardroom, overcoming sticky floors, entrepreneurship and trends in women’s health.

“Pink Power allows women to share successes and challenges with other successful women, while uplifting others to pursue success to an equal degree and collectively sharing knowledge gained through past or current experiences. The issue of gender equality is slowly progressing but it will take more than women’s month to highlight all challenges women face on a daily basis in society. With the launch of Pink Power, is to let women know that they don’t have to compete with one another to be successful but rather collaborate and support each other to achieve even greater success,” says the founders, Tumi Mkhondo and Tumi Makhu.

With the aim of collaborating and supporting women in business, the event included a fun-filled scenery and an exhibition showcasing women lead brands including Candi&Co – Randburg, Sam Star Shoes, BMashilo Designs, Lalalux and #VikaBag. Other participating brands included Lexus Centurion, Mud South Africa and Micallef Perfume.
