MTN’s “Join the Boks in Japan” initiative comes to life

Following the successful launch of MTN’s ‘WeGotU, Bokke’ campaign and its ambitious “Join the Boks in Japan” competition in June this year, the plane with MTN’s customers and employees is set to depart for Japan from the OR Tambo International Airport on Wednesday 16 October 2019.
With over 150 of the country’s rugby fans, MTN’s customers and employees expected to join the Springboks in Japan as winners of the ‘Join the Boks in Japan’ competition, the team will be competing with the knowledge that South Africans are supporting them, pushing them to work harder.
MTN is thrilled to see this great campaign coming to fruition. “When we announced this competition in June this year our aim was to ensure that there is a strong presence of South African’s who are also rugby fans cheering the Springboks on in Japan”, says Mapula Bodibe, Consumer Business Unit Executive at MTN SA. “This is also in line with the company’s ‘#WeGotU’ promise to our customers that we understand that the Springboks are important to them and likewise to the Springboks that we are behind them everywhere they go”.
Bodibe reiterated the fact that sport is a powerful instrument that can foster national unity and drive positive change, alluding to the 1995 feat which demonstrated the power of the sport to unite the nation.
The culmination of this competition coincides with MTN’s 25th birthday celebration which is all about enabling our customers to get that feeling that just excites them during this celebratory period. “This trip has truly brought our tagline of “Get that Winning Feeling” to life and we believe that it will rub off onto the Springboks who are also aiming to achieve that winning feeling in the land of the rising sun”, Bodibe concludes.
