Following a successful start to the first three 2018 Nedbank Ke Yona Team Search try-outs, the coaching trio in Ephraim “Shakes” Mashaba, Khabo Zondo and Mike “Sporo” Mangena are excited about the talent they have identified thus far, whilst eagerly anticipating the forthcoming try-outs.

With over 3000 entries into the past three try-outs held in Limpopo, Free State and Eastern Cape, the upcoming trials in Western Cape, Kwa-Zulu Natal and Gauteng are set to attract a few thousand more budding young talent.

“Since the inception of the Nedbank Ke Yona Team Search, we have noted an improvement in the level of skill and talent with each year. It is both enthralling and inspirational to witness the raw talent that South Africa has to offer and, as experienced coaches, it is up to us to unearth and refine this talent. Through this initiative by Nedbank, we have the privilege of doing exactly that. We look forward to visiting the Mother City this weekend and we have no doubt that the trialists will grab this once in a life time opportunity with both hands,” said coach Shakes Mashaba.

With the Cup final fast approaching, the Mother City will be painted green as Capetonians gear up for the city’s first ever Nedbank Cup final. “The upcoming week is a very exciting one for the soccer loving city of Cape Town, as we have a spectacular week filled with festivities and activities, starting with the Nedbank Ke Yona Team Search try-outs,” said a zealous Tutu Skosana, Sponsorship Manager: Football Properties at Nedbank. “The Search has been and remains a huge part of the development of players in South Africa and as the Money Experts Who Do Good, we are pleased to provide various avenues to leverage money to back our clients,” concluded Skosana

Around 500 trialists are expected at the Western Cape try-outs, which will take place on Sunday, the 15th of May from 08h00 at Athlone Stadium, Cape Town. Participants are advised to arrive early with a form of identification or a certified copy of their existing ID document.
