Following a successful Try-Out phase across the country, Nedbank is proud to announce the Boot Camp 48 Phase which will be taking place at the High Performance Centre, Pretoria from the 14th to the 18th of June 2018.
The coaching trio in Ephraim “Shakes” Mashaba, Khabo Zondo and Mike Mangena have carefully assembled some of the country’s most talented youngsters for an opportunity of a lifetime with South Africa’s most prestigious development programme. The Nedbank Ke Yona Team Search has produced over twenty players in the professional ranks of South African football, one of the most prominent being 2014 graduate and Bafana Bafana winger, Aubrey Maphosa Modiba.
As the Boot Camp draws nearer, the coaches are adamant that they have discovered enough ‘rough diamonds’ to build a strong and well-balanced team: “We are confident with the talent we have identified this year. It is going to get very interesting now, as we begin to build the 2018 Nedbank Ke Yona Team.” said Khabo Zondo
“As experienced coaches who believe in our country’s unique talent, we also look forward to working with each individual player and improve how they interact with the beautiful game of football for the rest of their lives. Through the Boot Camps, Nedbank has given us a great opportunity to impart knowledge on and off the pitch, which will remain with these young men for good.” Concluded Zondo.
The Bootcamp phase of the campaign aims to sharpen the players’ physical fitness and mental well-being. True to the brand’s narrative of enabling South Africans to See Money Differently, the Money Experts Who Do Good, also provide the young participants with educational lessons on how to sustain and manage their finances throughout their careers.
“The Ke Yona Team Search is a program which was established to provide up and coming talent with the most essential skills to thrive in an ever-evolving, competitive football industry. On-site, we have dedicated experts at all the Bootcamps whose tasks are to prepare the players for life as professional players, by monitoring and assisting the players progress. “said Nedbank’s Sponsorship Manager for Football Properties, Tutu Skosana.
From the Boot Camp 48, 18 of the players will be eliminated and 30 players will remain with hopes of making it into the Training Camps and the final 16-man Nedbank Ke Yona Team squad , which will play against Nedbank Cup winners – Free State Stars in the 2018 Nedbank Ke Yona Challenge.
