2019 MTN8 Last Journalist Standing victor – Polokwane based Ofhani Munyai

MTN today handed over a cheque valued at R25 000 to the 2019 MTN8 Last Journalist Standing (LJS) competition winner, Ofhani Munyai, a Polokwane based sports journalist and editor for LimSportsZone.
The 2019 MTN8 campaign provided a platform that enabled journalists to be part of the tournament – not only through reporting on the WAFA WAFA matches – but also by pitching them against each other in a competitive football related quiz. The quiz was online and journalists were ranked on a leader board until the ultimate LJS winner was determined based on aggregate. Munyai arose as the overall winning journalist.
Munyai was also presented with a boarding pass granting him and his partner the opportunity to join the 2019 MTN8 Last Fan Standing winner Lufuno Godfrey Mutheiwana and his partner on an all-expenses paid trip to any football experience of his choice in the world which he will redeem in 2020.
“I would like to thank MTN for providing the platform for football journalists to be part of the MTN8 tournament through the MTN8 Last Journalist Standing competition,” said the thrilled Munyai. “I look forward to travelling with the Last Fan Standing winner and my homeboy, Lufuno to the international football experience. There are many options to choose from and I hope I can influence his choice,” he chuckled.
Mapula Bodibe, Executive for Consumer Business: MTN SA said: “this year is a special year for us as MTN celebrates its 25 Year anniversary, and as part of our celebrations to mark this milestone we ensured we brought the feeling of winning to players, teams, media, schools, NGOs within local communities and of course, the football fans throughout the tournament. The MTN8 Last Journalist Standing (LJS) competition is MTN’s way of making journalists part of the MTN8 journey while also recognizing those who have supported the tournament over the years.

The MTN8 tournament continues to give us the opportunity to contribute back to various communities where we operate. We donated soccer and netball kits in the regions we visited during the campaign period and with Ofhani being from Polokwane and running his own media publication allows us to also re-affirm our commitment to community media,” said Bodibe.
